Let Congress Know How You Feel!

We've been buried in email from people who have written to their Senators and representatives and with others who want to know how to do so.

The bad news is that the people who had written their Senators and Representatives felt like their words fell on deaf ears. That's disappointing.

The good news is that when enough people write AND show their public support for STOPPING THE BAILOUTS!, they will have no choice but to begin to listen. I want your Congressperson to see a STOP THE BAILOUTS! car magnet every time he/she goes to the mall, to a gas station, or out to dinner.

Individually, we can be ignored. Collectively, we can not.

Let's let them know how we feel!!

Here's how to reach your US Senator:

Here's how to reach your Representative:

And, if you want to send him/her our car magnet, we'd be happy to do that as well!!

Sample Letter AGAINST the Stimulus Package Currently In Congress

(feel free to cut and paste into a letter to your Congressperson

I am writing to express my strong opposition to the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (S.1) and to urge you to please vote against this bill.
We are already projecting a federal deficit of $1.2 trillion dollars this year. Adding nearly $900 billion in government spending will only drive our children (and their children) further into debt. In addition to adding to our debt load, this package will not truly stimulate the economy. The Congressional Budget Office has concluded that more than half of the infrastructure spending contained in the bill will not take place for more than two years -- long after most economists predict the current recession will have ended.

If you feel you must do "something," how about creating incentives for private-sector jobs, and/or enacting across-the-board tax cuts for individuals and businesses, like those that helped reverse economic slumps in the 1960s, 1980s, and earlier this decade.  The tax cuts in this bill are narrowly targeted, with the largest portion going to more rebate checks, which seemed to have no positive impact when tried last year.
Additionally, some of the items currently in this bill have very little to do with stimulating the economy. Spending tens of millions on honey bee insurance, water parks, ATV trails, and contraception programs have no place in a stimulus package. The fact that they are in there speaks to just how broken our system is at this point.

However, even if the pork is removed, I strongly oppose this program in concept. Let the free market work. It will. Government intervention in the housing market got us into this mess originally. History would indicate that the government will not be effective in getting us out.

Please do not waste our money and add to our nation's soaring liabilities with this bill.  Please vote NO on S.1.
